The Gate The main entrance to their underground territory, located near the north border of HollowClan land, at least 3 guards are stationed there at all times to protect against intruders and seek out abandoned kits.

The Labyrinth An insurance policy as well as entryway to the underground, the labyrinth is a long maze of winding tunnels one can easily get lost in. Not only is it an affective method for taking care of intruders (skeletal remains are stumbled upon occasionally), it also serves as their hunting grounds. Prey includes chipmunks, moles and rabbits.

Sunlight Shrine Considered the crown's throne room, this is a sacred cavern deep in the heart of the labyrinth where those interested or in need can request an audience with the crown. Also where group meetings are held.

Crystal Cavern Recognized from a distance by the ethereal scarlet glow emanating from the cave, the crystal cavern is a sacred location where only the crown and sorcerer are permitted entrance. This is where the coronation ceremony takes place.

The Camp Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

Welcome to Crimson Labyrinth's naming guide! This may seem rather peculiar compared to your past experiences, however, a naming guide for the Labyrinth is a necessary evil, as you can probably tell naming traditions are very different from the standard clans. Each official resident of the Underground (those that have either been born in or inducted into the Labyrinth) has two names:

THE GIVEN NAME. Your given name is the so-called 'first name' of your character. It's what they mainly go by, unless they're attending formal functions, such as group meetings, coronation celebrations, ascension rites or blood rituals. For example, your character could be named Alexander/Alexandra. That would be his/her given name.

THE FAMILY NAME. You may be used to family names being your 'surname' of sorts, something that every member of your family shares unless they're married. Family names in Crimson Labyrinth are different, however. Through the family name, you can track a character's bloodline back generations, as the family name is a patronymic. This is a word which here means "a name given to you to honor your father." Every cat in Crimson Labyrinth has a patronymic. If they were abandoned or do not know who their father is, they are given the patronymic of 'Kasperion' (if male) or 'Kasperiell' (if female).

MALE If your character is male, their patronymic name (father's name) will have the ending of 'ion'. For example, Alexandrion.

FEMALE If your character is female, her patronymic name (father's name) will have the ending of 'iell'. For example, Alexandriell.

NON-BINARY If your character is non-binary, their patronymic name (father's name) will have the ending of 'ien'. For example, Alexandrien.

Coronation Ceremony Come the end of their predecessor's reign, the heir's coronation is a ceremony of great importance, led by the sorcerer and novice within the Crystal Cavern. There, they are given the crimson elixir and vow to safeguard the stone of Senya. A moon of celebration follows, comprised of feasts, dancing, and activities ranging from social gatherings to fun games for the innocents.

Blood Ritual To those of Crimson Labyrinth, blood means everything: succcess, hope, strength, destruction. The bloodlines are an important and core part of the structure of their culture. Once every season, a blood ritual is held: a time where, contrary to belief, blood is not spilled but united. Couples gather together, profess their love, and in front of the witness of the crown and the sorcerer, are bound together for all eternity.

Ascension Rites Those who survive Crimson Labyrinth's ascension rites consider the feat an honor alone. This is due to the dangerous situation they find themselves over the span of three suns. Starting at the heart of the labyrinth, novices are sent out one by one to navigate their way through the maze to the gate of the territory. Should they succeed and survive starvation, encounters with badgers and foxes, and the occasional cave-in, they are then expected to leave the land and find a kitten to bring back home as an innocent initiate. Failure to accomplish any of these tasks can result in either the execution or exile of the novice (depending on whether they're willing to cooperate).

Innocent Initiation Upon the arrival of those young children who have been ghosted away by either members of Crimson Labyrinth or their allies, the Untold, they obtain the status of 'innocent initiate' and are taught the ways and stories of the Underground. They are then given a new name – one fitting of the Labyrinth – and put under the care of the Consort and Attendants. Innocent initiates are found either in abandoned litters in any of the clan territories, offered to the Labyrinth as a sign of good will (as in the case of the Untold's truce offerings), or stolen in the night from clan camps. Occasionally, kittens from the Outlands are also brought in, though are much fewer in number.

The Court of Inamorata was created by the founder of Crimson Labyrinth when, realizing he would not live forever and was nearing the end of his reign over his subjects, required an heir to secure his bloodline to the throne. A mateless tom with the reputation of a bachelor, he had no qualms about getting what he wanted by whatever means necessary. Though his subjects had preferred to see him take on a permanent Consort, they also understood the primal nature of their people; they were more in tune with nature than the felines wandering aimlessly Aboveground. Finding the most attractive and intelligent she-cats in the Aboveground, he brought them back to the Labyrinth, planning to take one as his Consort. Instead, they fought against him, refusing to bow down to the crown. Though he admired their rebellious nature and their courage, he found himself in a predicament. He needed an heir, preferably soon. He needed them trained; needed them to rule the way he would.

Finally, he found a she-cat who, though his perfect match in wits and strength, had managed to fall in love with him despite his shortcomings. Gentle and caring, she was also vastly intelligent and offered a solution to his situation: His subjects, and those he chose to provide him an heir, would look upon him more kindly if he offered them the same support he expected from them. Changing his tactic, he chose to court those he took on and to care for those under his watch. His reign changed, his subjects changing his moniker from 'The Terrible' to 'The Great'.

From then on, each Crown takes on a 'court of Inamorata', a title which here means "a company of lovers that, while not Consort, are treated respectably". It wasn't until the reign of Nikolas Xaverion that those of the Inamorata court could take on a mate of their own and leave the court (after fulfilling their duty).

Advisor and novice pairings are organized on the 9th, the day after activity check season. Advisors are assigned through voluntary registration via the activity check format. Users playing advisors are responsible for posting novice prime (training) threads. If a prime thread is not posted within one week of the assignment, the novice will receive an advisor reassignment.

Thread links that are italicized are prime threads that have been created and are in progress. Thread links that are struckthrough are prime threads that have been completed. Thread links that are underlined are prime threads that have not yet been created.

Novices must have at least 10 posts to their prime thread to be viable for ascension rites.

Different from the clans, Crimson Labyrinth doesn't have the usual patrols that you may be used to. Called raids, as that is the best descriptor for the carnage that results from them, there are three constant missions for raids, depending on the form you're assigned to.

HUNTING. While the idea of hunting seems pretty straightforward, there's an art to hunting in the Labyrinth that their hunters must master to be successful in their territory. Within the labyrinth, where their hunting grounds reside, are a number of untold dangers; at any time, a hunting party can stumble upon a badger, fox, or lost soul. The danger level can be anywhere from 0 to 5, which is why having a guard escort is incredibly important.

AERIAL. Unlike many lands where border patrols occur morning, noon and night, Crimson Labyrinth likes to keep their existence somewhat of a secret, as it aids them in their lifestyle. As long as they don't have anyone bothering them, they won't bother you – at least, that's what they like to tell themselves to sleep at night. There are always at least 3 guards stationed at the gate to the territory, Aboveground, to keep an eye out for trespassers. This is a rather relaxed position, however one must always remain vigilant in case an innocent is wandering alone. They're the best for initiation.

SPIRITING. An unusual practice but one common within the Labyrinth, a popular raid is one that is made of the most sly, manipulative and cunning characters, as their mission is to spirit away unwanted, lost or unhappy innocents. Blending in with the surroundings of the Aboveground, they slither along the earth to track down the trail of an innocent. They keep their prey fairly easy, however; waltzing into a clan camp to steal an innocent can rain more fury down on one than seizing an innocent who's been abandoned by their mother in the forest.
